Toyota launches Fortuner

Toyota Kirslokar India launches the new Fortuner SUV in India. The new Fortuner powered by 3.0L D-4D diesel engine developing 171PS of Max power and 343 Nm of max torque. Fortuner is avialable only with 5-speed manual transmission mode.

The seven seater SUV comes with an all time four wheel drive system. The dimensions of this massive SUV are 4695mm in length, 1840mm breadth and height of 1850mm. On the safety front, Toyota is a miser! Fortuner is loaded with only two airbags – driver and passenger and ABS. The features of the Toyota Fortuner are – chrome ORVM, front fog lamps, foof rails,bonnet scoop,front wiper with intermittent function and 6 spoke alloy wheels.

The suspension at the front is double wishbone and at the rear it is 4-link with lateral rod. Riding on massive 265/65 R17 tubeless radials Fortuners has ventilated disc brake at the front and drum at the rear. Riding on 17? alloys it gets climate control system as a standard fitment. Toyota Fortuner will be available in five colours – white,silver,grey,black and blue.

With gasoline surging toward $4 per gallon and massive SUVs falling massively out of favor, it would seem that GM's

Hummer division would be entering the autumn of its years. But according to J. D. Power and Associates, the brand captures and retains owners better than most, so it's worth nurturing. The trick is making hugeness less of a calling card - a process that started with the demise of the H1 - but preserving extreme off-road ability. As anyone who has done any serious off-roading can attest, size is your enemy on the trail, so a smaller but still off-road-ready Hummer, perhaps like the HX concept (below), makes perfect sense. The HX gives us a good look at the upcoming H4, and if that new entry has all the off-road gear of the show car, it'll be a strong addition to the lineup. The HX sports full-time four-wheel drive (naturally) with locking front and rear differentials, 35-inch tires, a 3.6-liter direct-injected V-6, and an electronically disconnectable front antiroll bar - not to mention that unmistakable blocky styling.

HONEY, I SHRUNK THE HUMMER: And not a moment too soon, given the state of the economy. At last, proof that Hummer doesn't operate in a vacuum. Sort of.

Hummer HX Concept

Looking to challenge Jeep Wrangler head-on, Hummer has come up with an entry-level offering called the HX. Riding on a 103.0-in. wheelbase, the open-top HX measures 171.0 in. overall and is powered by a 3.6-liter V-6 producing 304 bhp and 272 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The suspension features an independent front with coil-over shocks and a semi-trailing link rear. Brembo 6-piston caliper front and 4-piston rear disc brakes are found beneath 20-in. alloy wheels.
This rugged, go-anywhere, do-anything SUV has the angular, bare bones look of the original H1, but on a much smaller scale. The face of the vehicle has round headlamps in square housing, the seven-slot grille opening and an upright front windshield, all classic Hummer cues. In addition, the slant-back design of the HX and the matte olive paint scheme are intended to echo the military origins of the Hummer brand.
The top can be reconfigured from a closed cabin for all four passengers, an open rear cargo area like an SUT, or a completely open roadster. The exposed hinges allow the two doors to be removed, and the composite fender flares can also be detached for additional clearance on tight off-road trails. -->

2009 Hummer H3T

The Hummer H3 lineup has been expanded to include a crew-cab pickup version of this rugged off-roader. The H3T is equipped with a 5-ft.-long cargo bed and a passenger compartment with four doors and five seating positions.
Slightly larger than most midsize SUTs in its class, but smaller than most full-size models, the H3T is offered with full-time four-wheel drive. The base engine is a 3.7-liter inline 5-cylinder engine producing 242 bhp, with a choice of a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. The optional H3T Alpha package includes a 5.3-liter V-8, which is rated at 300 bhp. The Alpha comes with a 4-speed automatic.
The H3T rides on a 134.5-in. wheelbase, which is 11.7 in. longer than the standard H3's. Two suspensions are offered, the Z85 Heavy-Duty Handling and Trailering with 32-in. all-terrain tires or the Off-Road Adventure package with 33-in. tires, retuned shocks and locking front and rear differentials.
Even though the new truck is longer, it still retains Hummer's trademark off-road prowess with the ability to climb a 60-percent grade and traverse a 40-percent side slope. With the Off-Road Adventure package, the truck has 10.2 in. of ground clearance. The 2009 Hummer H3T is expected to go on sale this fall.
