2009 Nissan Murano
2009 Nissan Murano - Brian Blades, Road and Track
Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn made the trip to Los Angeles to unveil the next-generation Murano at the L.A. Auto Show. Sitting alongside the much-anticipated GT-R sports car, the stylish SUV wasn't at all upstaged by its high-profile sibling. Highlighted by a new aggressive front end that features a headlight-in-grille design, the new Murano will definitely continue to turn heads. A new hood sweep adds flair, with pronounced wheel arches and 18 or 20-in. wheels providing an aggressive stance. Large chrome door handles and available roof rails with adjustable crossbars add both functionality and visual appeal.
The Murano's redesigned rear end features a new glass shape, air deflector and large LED taillights that accent the body-side character lines.
New available exterior features for 2009 include rain-sensing windshield wipers, a power liftgate, enhanced RearView Monitor with rearview camera and a large, top-load power sliding glass sunroof and second-row skylight รณ the last item providing an open-air experience for the passengers without compromising head room.
Under the hood, you'll find a 3.5-liter dohc V-6 with 265 horsepower and 248 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine incorporates a Twin Nissan Variable Induction Control System (NICS), microfinished camshaft and crankshaft surfaces, DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coated valve lifters, resin intake manifold, forged crankshaft, digital knock-control system, high-capacity muffler and lightweight aluminum block and cylinder heads.
Engine power is transferred to a new, advanced Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) with Adaptive Shift Control (ACS) that provides a sporty driving experience and the smoothness that only a CVT can offer. The Murano will be available early next year.
