Callaway C16 Speedster
For the ultimate in Corvette-based exclusivity, look to Callaway's recently launched C16 Speedster.
It joins the C16 family that also includes a coupe and a convertible. The C16 Speedster uses all-new bodywork, once again penned by Paul Deutschman, who also designed the original Callaway Speedster in 1990 and the C12 Speedster in 1998. The C16 version is powered by a hand-built 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 with 700 bhp and 660 lb.-ft. of torque, which Callaway says should be good for 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of over 210 mph.
The suspension is a joint Callaway/Eibach coil-over system that features 10 settings for both compression and rebound. Oversize Callaway/StopTech brakes reside within carbon-fiber wheels that not only look cool, but are an estimated 40 percent lighter than aluminum versions.
Each C16 Speedster will be built to customer specification, at a price of $305,000.
